Your doctor or healthcare professional can tell you which Juvederm™ formulation is right for you:  Juvederm™ Ultra injectable gel, optimally formulated for versatility in contouring and volumizing wrinkles and folds, or Juvederm™ Ultra Plus, a robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper wrinkles and folds.  Look smooth and natural with Juvederm™ injectable gel.

Spider Veins (Sclerotherapy)

There are different sizes of veins on the legs. The tiniest are commonly known as “spider” veins. These make a pattern that look like spider legs or other fine patterns. They are usually the size of a pencil lead or thinner and are purple or pink in color. The best treatment is injection sclerotherapy. The physician injects solution into the vein using a very tiny needle, which causes the vein to clot off. In this stage, when the vessel is clotted, it is unsightly. This gradually disappears and is replaced by a brownish color that improves over approximately two months.

Very, very tiny veins may be treated by laser; however, the cost of laser treatment has been high. We still find injection sclerotherapy to be the procedure of choice, with the laser reserved for the tiniest vessels that do not respond. State-of-the-art techniques use very small micro-needles for the injection. You should ask the treating doctor about his success rates and side effects with his particular solution. Treatment is usually done as an outpatient in the office and is usually not considered painful. The patient does need to wear compressive stockings for one to three weeks after the procedure and refrain from heavy exercise for a two weeks.

Generally, spider veins are considered cosmetic in nature and are not covered by insurance. Varicose veins are the larger, ropelike veins. These may cause medical problems and treatment may be covered by insurance.

Common complaints are pain and achiness with standing, with ropelike veins evident when the patient stands. Treatments may include injections, but many practitioners feel the treatment of these are either micro-extraction or surgical removal. Click here for Spider Vein Post Treatment Instruction Sheet.
