Laser Center

Iowa Plastic Surgery

Iowa Plastic Surgery has a laser center which allows us to provide the latest non-invasive treatments with different light and laser techniques. Many treatments offer no downtime and immediate results.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

A series of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments are designed to reduce brown and red pigments on the skin. An intense flash of light is delivered deep into the skin’s surface, improving the clarity and tone of the skin. This treatment is very beneficial to those troubled by rosacea, sun damage, mild acne scarring and enlarged pores.

CoolTouch®

CoolTouch technology rejuvenates the face by stimulating the growth of collagen in the skin. It reduces or delays the signs of aging, diminishes acne scarring and improves skin texture. CoolTouch is unique because it delivers a cooling spray before, during and after the laser procedure, increasing patient comfort. In addition, CoolTouch can be used on many patients whose skin pigmentation or severe scarring cannot be helped with other lasers. Results can be seen as soon as the second or third treatment. You should notice a definite improvement within the first few months. The length of therapy depends on the patient’s preferences and the severity of the problem being treated. They may be spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart at first, then 8 to 12 weeks later on.

CoolTouch F.A.Q.
1. What will my recovery be like?

CoolTouch facial rejuvenation is so gentle that there is no interruption to your normal life.

During your series of in-office treatments, you will see an ongoing improvement in how your skin looks and feels. No tissue is removed. There is no oozing or crusting as associated with laser treatments or chemical peels. Bandages are not required.

You can watch as your skin gradually rebuilds from the inside and restores a more youthful appearance to your face. Over a few months, our CoolTouch facial rejuvenation treatments can restore what nature has diminished.

2. Are CoolTouch facial rejuvenation treatments for you?

Your skin care consultant will review your medical history, age, skin type and pigmentation, consider your desired results, and determine the best course of treatment for you. Results will vary from patient to patient depending on age, skin type, condition and the number of treatments.

3. Who are the best candidates for CoolTouch facial rejuvenation?

Anyone wishing to reduce or delay the signs of aging, postpone more aggressive treatments or prolong the results of previous treatments can benefit from CoolTouch facial rejuvenation. Even patients with pigmentation that precludes the use of some lasers or with hypertrophic and/or depressed acne scars will benefit from our CoolTouch facial rejuvenation treatments.

4. What are the benefits of CoolTouch facial rejuvenation?
  • CoolTouch treatments are safe and effective and work on all pigmentation and skin types.
  • CoolTouch is a non-invasive procedure performed on an outpatient basis.
  • Treatments with CoolTouch rarely produce injury to surface tissues.
  • CoolTouch softens the appearance of depressed and hypertrophic scars.
  • With CoolTouch skin rejuvenation, there is no downtime.

5. How many treatments will I need?

Every patient is different. Many see results after the second or third treatment. Treatments are normally spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, for a total of 3 to 5 treatments. You may see additional benefits for up to 6 months after your last treatment.

Diolite

A laser used for red or brown spots or smaller spider veins on the face, body, or legs. Treatments are done on an outpatient basis and do not require anesthesia or prolonged recovery.

Thermage SKin tightening

The Thermage procedure has been referred to as the non-surgical facelift. It uses radio frequency energy to tighten loose skin without incisions or surgery. It does not require recovery and is only offered in physicians' offices by qualified personnel.

While not a substitute for a facelift, the Thermage is best used for mild to moderate amount of sagging skin and wrinkles. It is also referred to as the thermal lift or dermal lift. Thermage has also been used to treat active acne.
